Ontario's Native Plants and Animals

Ontario’s terrain ranges from the rocky Canadian Shield to fertile southern farmland and extensive Great Lakes shorelines. Boreal forests of spruce and pine cover the north, while hardwood forests of maple and oak thrive further south. Wildflowers like trillium, columbine, and asters brighten forest floors and meadows. Moose, black bear, and white-tailed deer share the land with countless bird species and pollinators.
