Zacatecas Native Plants

Zacatecas’ arid plateaus and rocky hills are dominated by mesquite, lechuguilla, and prickly pear cactus. Grasslands host seasonal wildflowers such as Mexican hat and goldeneye. Higher elevations feature scattered oak and pinyon pine. Agaves and yucca are common, adapted to the region’s dry conditions and intense sun.
